A nose job or rhinoplasty is usually performed for cosmetic reasons but may involve functional procedures for patients who may have issues with breathing. Each patient has a specific anatomy, shape, skin in the quality and unique desires. Our goal is to understand your specific needs and tailor your procedures in order to provide the best outcome.
Incisions can be placed either entirely inside the nose or also on the outside. Through these incisions, the nose is shaped to meet your desired needs. This may include shifting the bones to narrow the bridge, shaving down cartilage to reduce a dorsal hump, or defining the nasal tip with various techniques such as cartilage grafting and precise suture placement. Sometimes cartilage is added to improve appearance and may be harvested from the nasal septum, the back of the ear, or the rib. A splint is placed in order to help protect the healing tissues and it is usually removed within one to two weeks.
A rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes three to five hours. Most swelling and bruising will be resolved in the first two weeks. Most patients can return to work within ten to fourteen days. You may resume exercise in four weeks.
Final results may take up to one year to manifest.
